Cockroaches

Cockroaches are identified by their long wispy antennae and their jerky walk. They are yellow-brown and 10-24mm long depending on the species or age.

Cockroaches can ruin a business's reputation and result in closure from an Environmental Health Officer from your local council.

Cockroaches are more common in the hospitality sector and are usual found in kitchens in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, bakeries or sometimes even in large blocks of flats due to their heat seeking nature.

Cockroaches can contaminate food, water, utensils and and preparation surfaces. They are high on the list of eradication for public health reasons.

Cockroaches can rarely survive outdoors in britain and seek heat. They take up home in warm appliances in kitchens and inside or under fridges.

Cockroaches will feed on any organic matter. They prioritise access to water and will seek this out as they cannot survive more than a few days without water.

WHAT are the signs?

  • Live cockroaches.

  • Small, dark and granular cockroach droppings.

  • A musty odour.

  • Shedded cockroach skins.

 

WHERE are they found?​

  • Mostly in kitchens, under, inside or behind warm appliances

  • Moist areas with access to water, usually close to plumbing and waste.

WHEN do they cause a problem?

  • They are most active in late spring and summer months, however they will seek to be indoors in the warmth all year round.

HOW do we get rid of Cockroaches?

  • We can fumigate, spray or use a gel bait. Each treatment will depend on the situation.

  • If a fumigation is required, you and your family will need to evacuate the property for approximately 15-60 minutes. This depends on the job itself and the size of your property.

  • For fumigations, Aquatic animals (particularly fish) must be removed from property as the insecticides used can be harmful to them. Other pets must also be removed by will not be harmed by the chemical used.
